Curriculum

As a classroom teacher in the Anaheim Union High School District, I understand what it takes to meet the needs of all students. I've worked with students of all abilities, and I believe wholeheartedly all students can learn. I work every day believing that by knowing every student's name and need, I can make a difference. I am looking to explore the following Curriculum issues if elected to the school board:
  • Access to advanced coursework for all students through Vertical Alignment
  • A-G approved coursework for all students
  • A focus on 21st century skills, including collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication
  • College and career readiness

Safety

With two of my own children in Los Alamitos schools, I am concerned with ensuring my children are safe at all times. I don't purport to have all the answers, but I am concerned with the following issues and want to shore up the board policies with regard to Safety:
  • Disaster preparedness
  • Traffic congestion
  • Drug and alcohol abuse
  • Social media e-reputations
  • Bullying education and prevention
  • social-emotional health
  • Dress codes for all students
  • Secure fencing around all campuses

Equity

A public education is founded on the belief that all students receive a fair and equitable education, not more or less for those who have more or for those who are disenfranchised for various reasons. Let's even the playing field and focus on Equity:
  • Smaller class sizes across all schools and classrooms
  • Inter-district transfer policies
  • Fundraising rules and restrictions
  • Transparency in sports' teams operating procedures
  • Elimination of inequitable summer homework policies
  • No more bond measures
  • A focus on all students' needs

My Campaign is Driven by Principles

I will not be accepting campaign donations for this campaign. I know money wins elections, but I would feel hypocritical to accept donations when I believe our district already asks too much of us. Your support by word-of-mouth is how I hope to win a seat on our School Board. Thank you!
